The latest cruise ship to visit Liverpool is the Aida Vita, with its colourful and striking livery. Operated by AIDA Cruises, the Aida Vita is identical to her sister ship Aida Aura. She was completed in 2002, is nearly 43,000 gross tonnage, 665.52ft in length and 92.19ft in width. She can travel at 21 knots and can accommodate 1,266 passengers and 426 crew. Originally using London as her port of registery, the Aida Vida is now registered in Genoa, Italy.
I managed to avoid the rain – if not the wind – at the Cruise Liner Terminal this lunchtime. The tide was at a high and the wind was gusting at times, so I grabbed some photos and videos as quickly as possible and headed back to the Pier Head and the relative shelter from the wind offered by the tall buildings around that area. The livery of the Aida Vita was a pleasant surprise. With massive red lips spread across her bow and an equally large eye painted on her side with blue wave-like lines cascading back toward the stern of the ship the Aid Vita made a striking impression in the dullness and grey of the river and today’s weather.
